Nana & Karoru – 3stars
3 stars??? Either something is very wrong with me or this book really has something to like for sure. This makes me a nice pervert by saying that yup I liked it! I am not into S & M and don’t wanna ever try it too in my life but still the wonderful chemistry between the characters and fantastic artworks are really a pleasure to read. In long story short, this is a book about a boy who likes S & M and tries to get her girl crush at school into it. It is downright weird but apart from some epics when are mangas not weird, right? The only complain is that this is too slow. I actually have nothing to tell you but read it as just a time pass and may be you’ll surprise yourself!
Akumetsu Vol.1 – 4stars
In a corrupted and economically ruined Japan where rich people are getting oiled with money sucked from the poor, just a regular girl Shiina tries to earn money through prostitution once she hears about her dad’s bankruptcy. On her first assignment of attending an orgy at a party full of rich bastards, a young man wearing a demon mask breaks in, gives a speech on rich people’s cruelty an savagely murders all of them except Shiina. When the man is gunned down by police, he attempts suicide by blasting off his own head with a bomb implanted inside the mask! Although this extraordinary incident is taken to be a single one, this act ignites a chain of savage murders performed by the same masked individual! A masked man comes back from death again an again to bring down the wrath of justice!
I loved it! On a whole Akumetsu is a bomb-blasting read! It touches all of realistic societies’ problem and also forms a unique type of philosophical ground where brutal killing seems pretty natural(wait, did I say that out loud?!)!
The artwork is smooth and crispy, awesomely detailed and nasty! I’m gonna read more volumes that is for sure!
Ranma 1/2 – 5 stars
I know the title sounds as if someone is confused about his own sexuality. But don’t worry its nothing like that. Ranma 1/2 = total ridiculous pandemonium with romance and martial arts.
Ranma, a teenage boy travels with his father to China to be trained in martial arts. But while practising around he gets dunk in an ancient cursed spring and voilà – he turns in to a girl! Since then he changes in to a girl when ever he is splashed with cold water and the only remedy for the reverse is a splash of hot water! But wait there is more because his father has already promised a friend that Ranma will marry the friend’s daughter. If you think that is enough chaos then wait and repeat the same process for other characters with them changing into goose, pig, cat, panda (aww yisss, a big full shaped panda) and more. Multiple identity crisis, stupendous martial art action and some beautiful characters : do you need more?
I was in school when this anime series came to telly for only a few months. But it was so funny that I read the manga later on the first chance I got.
Adult humour + martial art + identity crisis + fantastic characters and art = DO NOT miss this if you like a good laugh any-time.
